Charlotte & Guy’s Wedding at Ffolkes – Crazy Golf, Confetti & One Hell of a Party!

Some weddings are lovely. Some weddings are full of personality. And then there are weddings like Charlotte and Guy's, where you spend the day wondering what on earth is going to happen next. In the best possible way, obviously!
If you know anything about my approach to wedding photography, you'll know I'm a big fan of couples who throw themselves into their wedding day, do things their own way and aren't afraid to have a bit of fun. Charlotte and Guy ticked every single box.
With glorious weather, an outdoor ceremony, not one but TWO rounds of confetti, crazy golf, some rather unusual couple portraits and an evening party that absolutely delivered, this was one brilliant day at Ffolkes in Norfolk.
And honestly, I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Getting ready for a brilliant day at Ffolkes
I was with Charlotte and Guy from the early preparations right through to the evening celebrations, which is exactly how I love to photograph a wedding. There's something brilliant about documenting the entire story, from those quieter moments getting ready to the point where everyone is dancing like nobody's watching.
The morning was made even better by an incredible team of wedding suppliers, all bringing their own talents to the day.
Charlotte Leland was on hair, with _beautyby_elle and madeupbyamber taking care of makeup. Wykeham Florals provided the flowers, Kelly Mitchell created the cake, and Posy Content was there capturing content throughout the day.
It's always lovely working alongside suppliers who genuinely care about what they do. When everyone brings their A-game, it makes such a difference.
An outdoor wedding ceremony in the Ffolkes courtyard
With the weather playing ball (for once, we didn't need to negotiate with the British weather gods), Charlotte and Guy were able to have their ceremony outside in the courtyard at Ffolkes.
It's a brilliant setting for an outdoor wedding, and with the sunshine overhead, everything came together perfectly.
One of the things I love about photographing weddings at Ffolkes is that the venue offers so much variety without having to travel anywhere. You can have your ceremony, celebrations, drinks, entertainment and everything in between all in one place.
And when the couple and their guests are as up for a good time as Charlotte and Guy's lot, you really don't need much more.
Of course, no wedding is complete without confetti. Or in this case, two rounds of it.
Because let's be honest, can you ever really have too much confetti? I think we all know the answer.

Crazy golf, sunshine and some rather different wedding photos
After the ceremony and celebrations, it was time to grab Charlotte and Guy for a few couple portraits.
Now, I know some couples worry about the photography part of their wedding day. The idea of being dragged away from their guests for ages, awkwardly standing around while someone tells them where to put their hands, isn't exactly everyone's idea of fun.
That's not really my thing either.
I much prefer keeping things relaxed, getting you two together, having a wander and making the most of whatever is happening around us.
Luckily, Ffolkes has something a little different up its sleeve.
We made our way over to the crazy golf course, and the containers there turned out to be an absolute goldmine for photographs.
Rather than sticking to the usual wedding portrait locations, we made use of the incredible colours, shapes and surroundings of the containers to create something a little different.
We also managed to grab some sunshine for a few more relaxed portraits, giving us a lovely mixture of photographs.
It's a perfect example of why I always encourage couples to make the most of their venue. You don't necessarily need a grand landscape or a perfectly manicured garden to create brilliant wedding photographs. Sometimes the most unexpected places make the best backdrops.
And these were definitely worth the detour!
The table dash – because sitting still isn't compulsory
After the speeches, we decided to have a bit of fun with a table dash photo session.
If you've never seen one before, the idea is pretty simple. Rather than spending ages organising formal table photographs, I make my way around the tables, grabbing quick, fun group shots with everyone.
The result? Loads of personality, plenty of questionable expressions and photographs that actually capture what your guests were like on the day.
It's one of those little additions that can make a wedding gallery feel even more personal.
And judging by how much fun everyone was having, Charlotte and Guy's guests certainly weren't shy!

Nashville Heat, confetti cannons and a dance floor that went OFF
Now, this is where things got really good.
For the evening entertainment, Charlotte and Guy had Nashville Heat providing the soundtrack, and having worked with these guys before, I knew we were in for a good one.
They never disappoint.
The dance floor was packed, the music was banging and the energy in the room was exactly what I love seeing at a wedding.
Then came the confetti cannons.
Because apparently two rounds of confetti earlier in the day simply weren't enough!
With cannons going off across the dance floor, ties making their way onto people's heads and shirts gradually disappearing, things got rather lively.
It was one of those evenings where nobody seemed particularly interested in looking cool or worrying about what anyone else thought. Everyone was just having a brilliant time.
And that's exactly when some of my favourite wedding photographs happen.
I'm not really interested in creating a gallery full of people standing neatly in rows, smiling politely at the camera. I want the proper stuff. The unexpected moments, the ridiculous dancing, the friends letting loose and the photographs that make you laugh all over again when you look back at them.
Charlotte and Guy's evening had all of that in abundance.

From the courtyard ceremony setting to the crazy golf containers and the space for a brilliant evening party, there's plenty of opportunity to make your wedding feel completely your own.

Charlotte and Guy, thank you for having me along for the ride. What a brilliant day, what a brilliant bunch of people and what a party!
And yes, I think we've officially established that you can never have too much confetti.
